Best Holidays to Sail the Virgin Islands on a Crewed Charter Yacht
What are the 2 most popular crewed yacht charter weeks during the year? Christmas and New Years! The week of New Years is the most popular week of the year and the BVI is by far the most popular destination choice to celebrate New Years in the Caribbean. Nearly every yacht within the crewed charter fleet will eventually get a booking and the most popular yachts and crews will book up extremely early. See the links for each yacht's brochure. NEW YEARS: Dates Listed In Green
When should I book a holiday charter? Every year, we have clients truly disappointed that they didn't book their charter early enough on the yacht they wanted. You can see by the yacht listings above that booking early is the key.
What about holiday surcharges? Most yachts add a standard 10% surcharge for these popular holiday weeks. Surcharges are included in the rates above.
Is there specific date ranges for the 2019/2020 holiday charters? For the upcoming 2019/2020 holidays, a Christmas charter will try to end by Saturday, December 28, 2019, and a New Years charter would typically not begin before Sunday, December 29, 2019.
-
Christmas week - 2019 charters must end no later than the 28th of December.
-
New Years week - 2019-2020 charters cannot begin earlier than 27 December 2019
Please do not hesitate to contact us for holiday charters outside of these typical date ranges. For charters that cover December 25 and 26 as well as December 31 and January 1, those charters must be 10 days minimum in length (by yacht approval only as well).
What is the minimum length of a holiday charter? Holiday charters must be a minimum of one week. Clients can charter for less than a week but will have to pay for a full week's rate.
What about a holiday charter outside of the BVI? Charters outside the BVI are available during the holidays, but a large majority of the yachts do mandate a charter within the BVI due to the popularity of this destination in the winter months. Yachts with availability outside the BVI will charter a higher price point.
Winter Weather Makes a Difference: All charter yachts prefer to work in the Virgin Islands December to May over other parts of the Caribbean because anchorages are better protected from the weather & Christmas Winds.
